Homes for our Future

Luke at BTP

People from here should be able to afford to stay here.

We are in a housing crisis - a huge one.

Sutton has over 1000 households homeless and in temporary accommodation. Local people have been let down by successive governments, and the local Lib Dems are fighting to fix the broken system.

These are homes for future generations of local people - not just bringing down housing costs now, but ensuring that a child born in Sutton today will be able to afford to live in the borough in twenty years time.

We need more homes. The Government, rightly, wants to build more homes. The Lib Dems want to make sure that these homes are good enough for Sutton and that we protect our community spirit - and that means building the best quality homes possible in the right places with the right infrastructure.

What on earth is a Yify?

I'm a “Yify”. I say YES to new housing in the borough IF we get the resources, amenities and infrastructure that supports that development.

It's why Sutton's Lib Dem Council has set aside land for new healthcare and schools to cope with new housing, builds in the town centre where existing transport links and utilities are, and is keeping Sutton family-friendly by using our own powers to clamp down on inappropriate HMOs.

It's a strong approach because it makes sure we are focusing on building communities, not just units.

Even the BBC have noticed…
